Profile Books is delighted to announce our first children’s book, published in conjunction with Faber and Faber. THE SLEEPING ARMY is a new departure for multi-million selling children’s author, Francesca Simon.
It was inspired by the Lewis Chess pieces in the British Museum, and why it might be that they look so glum. What better way to find out, than by awakening them? And that’s exactly what happens when British Museum guard’s daughter, Freya, blows a horn in the museum and wakes the pieces.
Published on 20th October, the book was be launched with events at the British Museum and the National Museum of Scotland, both of which have some of the chess pieces.
Francesca Simon is best known as the author of the Horrid Henry series. The Sleeping Army marks the start of a new series of books aimed at slightly older children.
