We are delighted to announce that Simon Garfield’s new book, ON THE MAP, has been chosen as the Waterstones Book of the Month for October 2012.
And the book has also been chosen for the BBC Radio 4 slot for Book of the Week, beginning 8th October 2012.
Simon’s last book, JUST MY TYPE, told us things we never know about fonts and typefaces. In ON THE MAP, Simon brings the same curiosity for people and stories to bear on the world of maps – travellers, explorers, sat-nav, Google vs Apple, poverty maps, crime maps, the A-Z, where “here be dragons” came from, and maps of places that were entirely imaginary – like Treasure Island.
Book of the Week starts on Monday 8th October at 09:45am. You can listen again online for 1 week. (Area restrictions may apply).
