Clerkenwell Press debut writer Alastair Bruce has won Amazon’s prestigious Rising Star quarterly award, for his book Wall of Days.
Thanks to the amazing response from readers, Alastair’s book will now go through to the final which is announced at the end of the year.
The press reviews have been astonishing too:
‘It feels lazy to mention JM Coetzee when reviewing a first-time writer from South Africa, yet this mysterious tale of an exiled military chief, narrated in a chilly present tense, genuinely does seem inspired by the Nobel laureate, in particular by Waiting for the Barbarians’ Sunday Times.
‘Exceptional’ FT
Alastair Bruce says:
‘I am thrilled to have won the third round of Amazon’s Rising Stars. A big thank you to Amazon and especially to everyone who reviewed it – the effort you went to is hugely appreciated.’
